What
the SANDUSKY AREA YMCA Means to You. The
Sandusky Area YMCA Mission of putting Christian principles
into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for
all. Together we have enriched the
lives of thousands of families and individuals in our community.
We offer youth, adult, senior citizen, and family health and fitness programs
to enhance individual needs as well as provide alternative day care programs for
infant, toddlers, preschool and school aged children. We also offer many
special events and clubs for all ages within the organization.
As a Sandusky Area YMCA member YOU are part of a worldwide movement, which is in over 120
countries dedicated to making this world a better place—one person at a time.
Collectively, YMCA’s are the largest not-for-profit community service
organization in America. YMCA’s
are at the heart of community life in over 2,800 neighborhoods and towns across
our great nation. Y’s are for
people of all faiths, races, abilities, ages and incomes.
No one is turned away for inability to pay.
We believe that the YMCA’s strength is in the people they bring
together.
Why Choose YMCA Programs?
Many
organizations offer programs as an end to themselves, but the Sandusky Area YMCA offers
programs as a vehicle to deliver our unique mission of putting Christian
principles into practice to build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
The goal of YMCA programs is to help enrich lives and teach people how to
grow spiritually, mentally and physically. To
accomplish this, we address the following seven specific objectives…
1. Grow personally / Develop self esteem
2. Teach values / Develop character
3. Improve
personal & family relationships/Support Families
4.
Appreciate Diversity / Reflect community
5. Become
better leaders / Promote leadership
6. Develop skills / Build life skills
7.
Have
Fun! / Enjoy Life!
The
"Y" is built on the Christian principles of : Caring, Honesty, Respect
